The founder
Why Farris Fair exists
Most small businesses end up with a bookkeeper who does not do tax and a tax preparer who has never seen the books. Things fall between them. Latonia built Farris Fair so that would not happen: one person keeps the records, prepares the return, and is licensed to deal with the IRS if anything comes back.
She is a Certified Public Bookkeeper with more than twenty years in the work, and an expert in QuickBooks holding the Advanced ProAdvisor credential. She is also an IRS licensed Enrolled Agent, with many years of experience preparing individual, business and non-profit returns. Farris Fair is women owned and minority owned, and works out of an office in Oakbrook Terrace.

What that license means
An Enrolled Agent can speak to the IRS for you
Enrolled Agent is the highest credential the IRS issues. It is earned by passing a three-part examination on individual and business taxation and representation, and it carries unlimited rights of representation. In practice that means if a notice arrives, an audit opens, or a balance goes to collections, Latonia can deal with it directly on your behalf rather than handing you to someone else.
Because she also keeps the books those filings are based on, there is no gap between what was recorded and what was reported.

What she works in
QuickBooks Online
The default for most clients. Latonia holds the Advanced ProAdvisor credential for it.
QuickBooks Desktop
Still the right tool for some trades and older files, and fully supported here.
Quicken and TurboTax
Common where the personal and business sides of a household overlap.
Excel and Access
An IT and software background means reporting can be pulled out of systems that were never built to talk to an accounting package.
Who she works with
Owner-run businesses, and the people who run them
Farris Fair works with individuals, small businesses and non-profits across the western suburbs of Chicago. Some clients want the whole thing handled. Others want their own bookkeeping checked and their return prepared properly. Both are fine.
