Bookkeeping and tax services in Chicago, Illinois
Chicago is around eighteen miles east of the office. City clients are almost always handled remotely, which works perfectly well: bank feeds, document sharing and scheduled calls cover everything a monthly cycle needs.

Working with Chicago businesses
City businesses face a more complicated local tax picture than the suburbs, and the structure that suited a side project rarely suits the same business three years later.
Farris Fair is run by Latonia Farris-Jenkins, a Certified Public Bookkeeper, Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor and IRS licensed Enrolled Agent. That combination means a Chicago business gets its books kept and its return prepared by the same person, and has someone licensed to deal with the IRS directly if a notice ever arrives.

From Chicago business owners
Do I need to come to the office?
No. Most Chicago clients never visit. Everything can be handled remotely, and the Oakbrook Terrace office is about 18 miles away if you would prefer to meet.
Do you understand the tax situation in Cook County?
Yes. Farris Fair works on both sides of the DuPage and Cook County line and deals with the differences routinely. Municipal and county rates change, so current rates are confirmed against the Illinois Department of Revenue at the time of filing rather than quoted from memory.
My books are years behind. Will you still take it on?
Yes, and it is the most common reason people call. Cleanup is quoted as a fixed-price project before any work starts, so you know the cost of getting current before you commit to it.
Can you handle both my business and my personal return?
Yes. For most owner-run businesses the two are connected, and treating them separately is how things get missed. Latonia is an Enrolled Agent, so individual, business and non-profit returns are all handled in house.
